Beginner and Refresher
5 Sessions, spread over 6 days with a set schedule: planned around neap tide and starting every two weeks.
5 days surf course plus details
This course is set around the days with the smallest tidal shifts in the monthly tide cycle. Easier access and usually softer currents make this the best window for beginners and less experienced surfers. Two optional surfskate sessions are included. A movable layday gives time to recover, avoid unsuitable conditions and, for anyone who is interested, offers the opportunity to discover Lanzarote on a group hike.

What to bring for your surf and surfskate days
- Sun protection ☀️
- Bring sun protection, even on cloudy or windy days. Surf zinc or a zinc stick usually stays on best in the water.
- Drinking water 💧🥤🍉
- For each session, bring at least 1 l per person, ideally more, and a little snack: fruits, nuts or a muesli bar are ideal during and between the sessions. Depending on the tides, there will be time to have a longer break inbetween skating and surfing
- Sneakers / Flip-flops or Sandals 👟🩴
- For skating, bring some simple sneakers. At the beach, flip flops or sandals offer comfort and protection for your feet: Hot sand in summer, pebbles in winter
- Towel & swimwear 👙🩲
- Bring a towel and swimwear for under the wetsuit. Tight swimwear is usually more comfortable than loose boardshorts.
- Suitable clothes 🌦️
- For skating choose something light, comfortable and robust. Maybe not your best favourite dress, if you are new to surfskating. In Winter and on windy days something cosy and warm to wear after the surf session. A beanie is a usefull protection for wet ears in any weather.
- Swimming & health 🏊 ⚕️
- You should be able to swim. Please mention injuries, allergies, diabetes or other concerns when booking.
- Jewellery & piercings 🤔
- Best left at home. They can get lost or create unnecessary injury risks.
- All in Hand 🎒?
- A small backpack or comfortable bag keeps everything you need for the session together and leaves your hands free to carry your board.
What is 5 Days Surf-Course +Plus?
5 Days Surf-Course +Plus is a five-day surf course spread over six days, planned around the days with the smallest tidal shifts in the monthly tide cycle. Easier access and usually softer currents make this a useful window for beginners and less experienced surfers. Two optional surfskate sessions are included. A movable layday gives time to recover, avoid unsuitable conditions and, if you are interested, offers the opportunity to discover Lanzarote on a group hike.
When do the surf sessions take place?
The course is planned around neap tide and starts every two weeks. The exact lesson window still shifts day by day with the most suitable tide, waves and wind conditions. You will get the exact schedule for your requested course dates on request.
Do I need previous experience or a certain level of
fitness?
It depends. You do not need previous surf experience. But of course, you should feel comfortable in the water and around waves. As for fitness, it is quite simple: surfing is a sport whose intensity changes with the conditions. The fitter you are, the better. You do not need to be an athlete, but it helps if you generally enjoy being active and doing sports. If you are unsure, just let me know and I can advise you on which format and which season might suit you best.
What about the surfskate sessions?
Two optional surfskate sessions are included in the +Plus format. Surfskate training is a useful add-on to work on balance, posture, turning mechanics and movement patterns before taking them into the water. Or just for fun. I never get tired of recommending it, especially to every landlocked surfer.
Is there a transfer service?
I do not offer a transfer service for organisational reasons. Contact me anyway if you cannot rely on public transport or hire a car, and I will help you find a solution.
Do I need to be able to swim?
Yes. Being able to swim confidently is a basic requirement. Even in beginner-friendly conditions, the ocean remains a dynamic environment. If you still feel unsure in the water, a group course is often not the best place to start. In that case, private lessons or open-water swimming can be the more sensible first step.
