1. Services Offered
I’m Conrad, your ISA Surf Coach on Lanzarote. Under the label Take Off Personal
Surftraining, I
offer surf lessons for all levels, surfskating, swimming lessons, and surf-specific training for
strength, endurance, and mobility. Accommodation offered on my website is provided separately by
my trusted partners.
- I operate independently and without a physical shop. I manage bookings,
communication, the
website, and serve as your personal coach.
- Meeting points vary: surf lessons take place at Famara Beach, skate lessons
in Arrecife/Playa
Honda, and
the location of swimming lessons depends on whether the session is in open water or a pool.
Surf-specific strength and cardio training sessions may take place at different venues such
as parks, gyms, or at your vacation domicile (for private training sessions).
- Session schedule: session times vary depending on the tides. For example, if
your lesson on
the first day is at 9:00, the next day it will be 9:45, and so on. The difference is
typically 45 minutes, but may be plus/minus 45 minutes depending also on the tidal
coefficient. Please send a reservation request for a detailed schedule for your requested
dates.
- I speak fluently English, Spanish, and German. Group lessons are held in
English by default,
unless all participants agree on one of my other spoken languages.
- Group Lessons: maximum 6 participants, well below the ISA’s allowed limit of
8 per instructor.
- You can start your course on any day. Lesson content and equipment are
adapted both to your
personal goals and to the day’s conditions.
- Kids and Teenaagers: best taught in a 1-on-1 or 1-on-2 format in private
lessons.
- A parent or guardian may assist from the beach or water. A wetsuit is
provided free of
charge.
- Note: for children under 12, a legal guardian must be present on the beach
during the
lesson.
- Gear such as surf and skate boards, wetsuits, helmets, and protectors for
skating are
included.
- During the booking request, you’ll be asked for age, height, weight, and
other basic
information to help select the right board and wetsuit. Additional information about your
surf level, fitness, or sports background helps personalize the lesson.
- If you have specific needs or concerns, I’ll be happy to advise.
- All participants must sign a risk assumption agreement, which also includes
data needed for
insurance and an emergency contact. For minors, a legal guardian must complete and sign the
form. This can be done online via Adobe Sign.
- Photos & Videos: I usually carry a camera to shoot short clips and
photos once
participants have reached sufficient independence and the situation allows it (for example:
surfing the same wave). Your consent or refusal is collected with the liability disclaimer.
2. Contact and Booking Process
During the booking process you’ll receive all the relevant information:
- Guidance for beginners and reminders for experienced surfers
- Meeting points, etc.
You can reach me via:
- WhatsApp message

for information only, which may serve as alternatives in case of weather or swell warnings.
- To confirm your booking, you pay either the full amount or a deposit of at
least 25%.
- For pool swimming lessons, a 75% deposit is required to secure the
reservation.
- The proposal expires 12 hours before your first session if no deposit is
received.
Please note:
- If there’s a longer time gap between your booking proposal and the deposit,
I kindly ask you
to confirm availability with a short message via email or WhatsApp before making the
payment.
- If someone else books your spot in the meantime, I’ll let you know and
refund your payment
immediately (if you’ve already paid).
- Refunds can take up to 12 days depending on my payment provider Stripe.
- Surfing depends on weather conditions – please keep some flexibility in your
holiday
planning.
- Confirmed participants will receive an update on wind and swell conditions 3
days before
their first session.

the person
responsible for the
booking, within the agreed booking period. The final decision on safety and feasibility remains
with Take Off
Personal Surftraining.
Surfing Lessons
- In case of official coastal alert or unsafe conditions, surf lessons can
be rescheduled or
replaced by
surfskating.
- In strong wind or sub-alert conditions, rescheduling or an alternative
activity may be
proposed if
productive and safe surf lessons are not possible.
- If rescheduling or an alternative activity is not possible, Take Off
Personal Surftraining
may offer a
voucher instead.
- If the proposed alternative is rejected, the general customer
cancellation terms apply.
Please note that for children, elderly participants or anyone requiring a
more cautious approach,
conditions may
be considered unsafe even below official alert levels. I communicate closely and in advance as
soon as the
forecast suggests such a situation.
Surfskating
- Surfskating is not possible when the venue is wet or during official
weather warnings for
outdoor
activities.
- In those cases, lessons can be rescheduled.
- Whenever reasonably possible, the venue may be changed to a suitable dry
location, such as a
nearby
skatepark or skateable sports court, depending on the customer’s transport options and local
conditions.
- Rescheduling is subject to availability.
- If both rescheduling and change of venue are not possible, Take Off
Personal Surftraining
may offer a
voucher instead.
- If the proposed alternative is rejected, the general customer
cancellation terms apply.
Open Water Swimming
- In case of alert or unsafe conditions, swimming lessons can be
rescheduled.
- Alternatively, the lesson may be relocated to a safe venue.
- If neither rescheduling nor relocation is feasible, Take Off Personal
Surftraining may offer
a voucher
instead.
- If the proposed alternative is rejected, the general customer
cancellation terms apply.
6.5 Vouchers

For this purpose, your browser may connect to servers of the font provider, such
as Google, which
may involve transmitting your IP address. This may allow the provider to know that our website
was accessed via your IP address.
If your browser does not support web fonts, a default font from your device will
be used.
For more information on Google Web Fonts and their privacy policy, please visit:
https://developers.google.com/fonts/faq and https://policies.google.com/privacy.

2.1 Why and How This Data Is Processed
- Personal data is processed to prepare sessions, ensure safety, fulfill legal
obligations,
and improve the quality of instruction.
- At the time of booking, I use your data to assess fitness, equipment needs,
and scheduling.
- Before your first session, additional data helps me meet insurance and
safety requirements.
- During and after sessions, I create session and accident protocols, which
are used
internally for planning and documentation purposes.
- “Session protocols” include name, age, height, weight, assigned equipment,
lesson contents
and progress, and observations to prepare future sessions for each participant.
- “Accident protocols” are only filled if an incident occurs. They follow
established
lifeguarding guidelines and document time, nature, and response to any incident. These may
be shared with emergency services if required. Since the foundation of Take Off in 2022, I
have never needed them.
Both types of documentation are stored offline in a physical folder.
3. Legal Basis
I process personal data under the following GDPR legal bases:
- “Performance of a contract” (Art. 6(1)(b)) – for service planning and
communication
- “Legal obligation” (Art. 6(1)(c)) – for tax, insurance, and safety records
- “Consent” (Art. 6(1)(a)) – for promotional use of photos/videos
- “Legitimate interests” (Art. 6(1)(f)) – for internal quality reflection and
service
improvement
4. Retention Period
I retain personal data only as long as useful or necessary:
- Booking data and contact information: stored until revoked by the client
- Signed Liability Disclaimers: minimum 5 years (insurance/legal reasons)
- Session protocols are not designed for client access and may include
coaching-specific
content considered intellectual property. Stored for a maximum of 5 years.

reasons).
- Media content: deleted after the session unless consent is given for
promotional use
5. Media Footage and Consent

analysis, and coaching quality.
- Recording is not guaranteed and depends on the situation.
- Participants who give explicit consent for promotional use (e.g. website,
social media,
advertising) will receive footage free of charge.

7. Your Rights
Under GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access your stored personal data
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion (where legally possible)
- Restrict or object to processing
- Request data portability
- Withdraw consent at any time

8. Data Security
I take technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data,
including:
- Use of encrypted communication where possible
- Limited access to sensitive data (only by me)
- Secure cloud platforms for document storage
- Regular review of stored data
This Privacy Policy only applies to the collection and use of personal data by
me, through my own
website and services. If you disclose your personal data to third parties—such as via social
media or other external websites—those parties operate under their own privacy policies and data
practices. I encourage you to review their terms and privacy statements separately.
For example, if you choose to share personal information through apps like
WhatsApp, Instagram,
or Facebook Messenger instead of the official channels (AdobeSign, contact forms on my website,
email), the privacy policies of those platforms will apply.
9. International Transfers
All service providers I use (e.g. Stripe, Adobe) comply with EU data protection
laws. If data is
transferred outside the EU/EEA, it is done via standard contractual clauses or adequacy
decisions as permitted under GDPR.
10. Cookies and Website Analytics
My website uses cookies for essential functionality, usage statistics, and ad
performance (via
Google Consent Mode).
You can adjust your cookie settings at any time. For details, refer to the Cookie
Banner when you
first visit the site.
11. Changes to This Policy
I may update this Privacy Policy to reflect service changes or legal
requirements. The “Last
updated” date at the top will always show the latest version. Continued use of the website or
services after changes implies agreement to the new policy.
