What to bring for your surf lesson
- Sun protection ☀️
- Bring sun protection, even on cloudy or windy days. Surf zinc or a zinc stick usually stays on best in the water.
- Drinking water 💧🥤🍉
- Salt water, sun, wind and exercise make you thirsty. Bring at least 0.5 l, ideally around 1 l per person, and if you like, a little snack: fruits, nuts or a muesli bar are ideal to refuel briefly during the session.
- Flip-flops or Sandals 🩴
- Comfort and protection for your feet: Hot sand in summer, pebbles in winter
- Towel & swimwear 👙🩲
- Bring a towel and swimwear for under the wetsuit. Tight swimwear is usually more comfortable than loose boardshorts.
- Suitable clothes 🌦️
- In Winter and on windy days something cosy and warm to wear after the session. A beanie is a usefull protection for wet ears in any weather.
- Swimming & health 🏊 ⚕️
- You should be able to swim. Please mention injuries, allergies, diabetes or other concerns when booking.
- Jewellery & piercings 🤔
- Best left at home. They can get lost or create unnecessary injury risks.
- All in Hand 🎒?
- A small backpack or comfortable bag keeps everything you need for the session together and leaves your hands free to carry your board.
When do the surf sessions take place?
The lesson window shifts day by day with the most suitable tide. Starting early between 8:00 and 9:30 on Mondays, the lessons shift slightly forward every day. By Friday, we usually start between 11:30 and 13:30. This always depends on the tidal period. Every other weekend, the choice is between surfing at sunrise or facing the weekend crowd. The weekends in between are more comfortable, around 10:00. You will get the exact schedule for your requested dates on request.
Do I need previous experience or a certain level of
fitness?
It depends. You do not need previous surf experience. But of course, you should feel comfortable in the water and around waves. As for fitness, it is quite simple: surfing is a sport whose intensity changes with the conditions. The fitter you are, the better. You do not need to be an athlete, but it helps if you generally enjoy being active and doing sports. If you are unsure, just let me know and I can advise you on which format and which season might suit you best.
Do you offer packages?
Yes, there are compact packages for those who want to get as much as possible out of a short stay. Or you can book as many flexible lessons as you want in one request and spread them flexibly over your stay.
Can I still learn to surf as an adult?
Yes, you can still learn to surf as an adult. Whether you are 25, 35, 45 or older: age alone is not the decisive factor. More important are swimming ability, basic fitness, mobility and a realistic attitude towards the ocean. Do not worry too much about age — especially if you live an active, sporty lifestyle. If you are unsure, we can look together at whether a group session, private coaching or a more adapted start would suit you best.
Is there a transfer service?
I do not offer a transfer service for organisational reasons. Contact me anyway if you cannot rely on public transport or hire a car, and I will help you find a solution.
Do I need to be able to swim?
Yes. Being able to swim confidently is a basic requirement. Even in beginner-friendly conditions, the ocean remains a dynamic environment. If you still feel unsure in the water, a group course is often not the best place to start. In that case, private lessons or open-water swimming can be the more sensible first step.
