What to bring for your surfskate lesson
- Flat shoes 👟
- Wear flat, closed sneakers. Skate shoes, tennis shoes or Chucks work well. The thinner and flatter the sole, the better.
- Robust clothes 🩳
- Choose something light, comfortable and robust. Do not wear your favourite outfit if you are new to surfskating.
- Drinking water 💧
- Surfskating gets sweaty quickly. Bring enough water, even when the morning still feels fresh.
- Sun protection ☀️
- Please think about sun protection, especially for the face, neck and shoulders.
- Hoodie or sweater 🌤️
- We usually start early. It can still be fresh enough for a hoodie, but after twenty or thirty minutes you will probably want to take it off again.
- Health & injuries ⚕️
- Please mention injuries, balance issues or other concerns when booking.
- Protection included 🛹
- I bring helmets, protective pads and surfskate boards.
What should I bring or wear?
Wear flat sneakers like skate shoes, tennis shoes or the infamous “Chucks”, but in the end any closed shoes will do. The thinner and flatter the sole, the better. For clothes, do not wear your favourite outfit if you are new to surfskating. Choose something robust, light and comfortable. Jeans shorts or shorts made from a stronger fabric work well. We usually start early, so it can still be fresh enough for a hoodie or sweater. After twenty or thirty minutes, you will probably want to take it off again. Bring enough water. Surfskating gets sweaty quickly, even when it does not feel too hot at the beginning. Please also think about sun protection. I bring helmets and protective pads.
Where does the surfskate session take place?
The surfskate session takes place at Parque Urbano in Playa Honda. You need your own transport between Playa Honda and Famara, or you can use the public bus connection if the timing works for your day. If you have trouble organising your transport, let me know in your request and I will see what we can arrange. I will send you the exact meeting details after your request.
Who are surfskate lessons for?
Many tutorials give good hints on isolated fragments — arms, back foot, shoulders, compression or rotation — but miss the link between body, board and flow. Join if your pump keeps fading into “Stillstand”, if you want a practical training tool between surf trips, or if wind, waves or tired arms keep you out of the water. If you already feel fully at home in skateparks, ramps and bowls, this might not be the most exciting surfskate session for you. You may still take something from it when it comes to drawing the connection back to surfing. Already solid on the flats and curious about more “vert”? No problem. Quarter pipes and mini ramps are a good next step.
What is the difference between group and private surfskate
lessons?
In both group and private lessons, I work in a modular way — from the very basics to more advanced stuff. There is no strict order that everyone has to follow. We do not waste time on exercises you already master easily. In groups, I work a bit like a personal trainer in the gym: several people, different levels, individual attention moving from one person to the next, bringing riders together for exercises where it fits. In private lessons, you get 100% of my attention.
Can surf and surfskate training be combined?
Of course. That is actually the point. Surfskate training is a useful add-on to work on balance, posture, turning mechanics and movement patterns. Or just for fun. I never get tired of recommending it, especially to every landlocked surfer. Please find the prices in the Surf and Surfskate sections and just mention the combination in your request. I will include a complete personal offer in my reply.
Is there a transfer service?
I do not offer a transfer service for organisational reasons. Contact me anyway if you cannot rely on public transport or hire a car, and I will help you find a solution.
